The 2026 Volvo S90 facelift has officially been revealed, showcasing a fresh design, advanced technology, and a new plug-in hybrid variant that promises up to 80 km of pure electric range. Initially launched for the Chinese market, the updated luxury sedan will roll out to other global markets in phases.
Striking Design Refresh
Volvo has enhanced the Scandinavian design language of the S90, giving it a bolder and more premium appearance. Key exterior changes include:
- New front grille with bi-directional slanting lines
- Slimmer “Thor Hammer” Matrix LED headlamps integrated with the grille
- Sculpted bonnet, redesigned front bumper, and reshaped front fenders
- New diamond-cut alloy wheels with raw aluminium and glossy black finish
- Updated rear profile with redesigned taillights and an integrated boot lip spoiler
- Two fresh paint options: Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red
Tech-Packed Interiors
The cabin now features Volvo’s latest 11.2-inch free-standing touchscreen, running the Volvo Car UX interface with support for over-the-air (OTA) updates. Volvo continues to focus on minimalist luxury, enhanced usability, and smart infotainment integration.
Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain
One of the most exciting additions is the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. It offers:
- EV-only range: Up to 80 km on a single charge
- Enhanced daily usability for city commutes
- Data-backed efficiency: Volvo claims nearly 50% of PHEV driving distance is covered on electric power alone
Additionally, the facelifted S90 will be offered with a mild-hybrid petrol variant featuring a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine and front-wheel drive layout.
Ride Comfort & Safety
Volvo has improved overall cabin comfort with:
- Advanced adaptive suspension as standard
- Enhanced sound insulation for a more refined drive
Safety remains top-tier with the Pilot Assist system, which includes:
- Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function
- Lane centering assist using lane markings
- Automatic braking in traffic congestion scenarios
- Reliable highway and single-lane assistance
